Seek Design was asked to design a pop-up shop, demo and display area for the Showcase 2015 trade show. Our client, the Design and Craft Council of Ireland, asked us to incorporate a sense of Irishness in the design and to create a functional display space to display a wide variety of Irish made products. The form of the shop was inspired by Irish nature, the Giant’s causeway and the productivity of beehives. It had a sense of Irishness but the design didn’t take over, it allowed the wide range of products to be displayed and showcased at a variety of levels and heights. The design included bespoke joinery items including a printing display area with a hanging rail, a cash area with storage, jewellery display, gondola display units, display shelves at different heights and integral and pendant lighting.
The striking, imposing structure made an impact upon entering the hall, creating a focal point for visitors. It’s positioning at the entrance allowed the Irish design products to be the centre of attention.
