Showhouse Design – Dublin 8

With this Dublin 8 showhouse, Seek Design lead the creative management of the furniture layout, lighting, and finishes. We paired contemporary and mid-century furniture, along with a modern colour palette and ambient lighting, to create a space that is tranquil, sleek and contemporary.

Retail Design – Scribble & Stone

Retail Design – Scribble & Stone, Heals, London

This retail design was created in collaboration with Irish jewellery designer Jennifer Kiernan for her first UK concession of the Jewellery brand Scribble & Stone. The jewellery concession was housed in the iconic flagship Heals Department store in central London. We designed a contemporary, clean display to showcase the intricate and delicate jewellery designs within this historical setting pairing a handcrafted bespoke sideboard with modular geometric shapes and forms to create a sophisticated and adaptable display area. A modern colour palette of white marble, teals, dusty pinks and greys were selected to balance the precious metals and stones used within the collection.

Retail Design – Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

Seek Design was asked to design a retail display area for Bunratty Castle and Folk Park in County Clare to house Irish knitwear and craft, jewellery, crystal and souvenirs. The final display incorporates a sense of Irishness and creates a functional display space to display a wide variety of Irish made products.

The display is inspired by Irish nature, which can be seen throughout the display, with focal points such as the large moss wall located at the till counter and the umbrella feature. The space also communicates a sense of luxury, in keeping with many of the handmade products on sale. This sense of luxury is most notably illustrated through use of colour, in particular the dark blues and greens which create a rich, warm atmosphere. The display allows the wide range of products to be displayed and showcased at a variety of levels and heights. The design includes bespoke overhead pieces including; wicker lampshades, decorative umbrellas and rope light fixtures. These bespoke pieces make a visual impact on first entering the space but do not take away from the products on display.

The design was a collaboration between Seek Design, fit out contractors Store Design, and Synnott Design.

Design -Drumcondra Showhouse

Seek were approached to design this showhouse in Drumcondra. As part of the project they worked the layout, window layout,  garden layout, lighting, electrical layout and the final finishes.

Using the historical features of the building such as the exposed brick and ceiling beams and partnering  them with more modern pieces such as the flooring, colour and lighting the end result is a truly unique space that is contemporary, clean and sleek.

Seek Design was asked to design a pop-up shop, demo and display area for the Showcase 2015 trade show. Our client, the Design and Craft Council of Ireland, asked us to incorporate a sense of Irishness in the design and to create a functional display space to display a wide variety of Irish made products. The form of the shop was inspired by Irish nature, the Giant’s causeway and the productivity of beehives. It had a sense of Irishness but the design didn’t take over, it allowed the wide range of products to be displayed and showcased at a variety of levels and heights. The design included bespoke joinery items including a printing display area with a hanging rail, a cash area with storage, jewelry display, gondola display units, display shelves at different heights and integral and pendant lighting.
The striking, imposing structure made an impact upon entering the hall, creating a focal point for visitors. It’s positioning at the entrance allowed the Irish design products to be the centre of attention.

Retail & Café Design – GPO exhibition

Retail and cafe design created in conjunction with the Witness History exhibition celebrating the centenary of the the Irish Republic at the GPO in central Dublin. With a location overlooking an open courtyard, the cafe and retail space were designed as a space for visitors to relax and reflect after visiting the exhibition. Utilising the natural light that floods the space from the glass walls overlooking the courtyard, colours have been kept to a minimum to create an open and refreshing space within this historical building. The dark stained flooring is in-keeping with the antiquated nature of the building while the use of a contemporary shade of green reflects the modern society of the capital. The retail design has been incorporated within the cafe space to engage with the tourism industry which will inevitably be the largest visitor to the space.

Café Re-Brand & Design – O’Briens Cafés

Café Re-Brand & Design – O’Briens Cafés

Seek Design was commissioned to re-brand the interiors of the Irish-owned sandwich chain, O’Brien’s.
We were asked to create a look that would appeal to all age groups and accentuate their newly designed menu. O’Brien’s cafés were turning their focus to more wholesome and hearty food and they needed the new interior to emulate this new departure. We sought to create a homely yet contemporary interior for the chain.
Ambient clusters of pendant lights were used and innovative materials such as printed wood counter fronts which were printed with a pattern inspired by Galway shawls. Oak finished menu boards, newly upholstered chairs and tweed covered banquette seating made the interior more inviting and customer friendly. To highlight the fact that O’Brien’s is an Irish owned company we chose a new earthy, olive green colour throughout the design, re-enforcing the wholesomeness of the new food offer. The following images are of some of the café’s that have been rebranded throughout Ireland.

Office design and fit-out for an office space set in the heart of Georgian Dublin. Gold fittings and signage coupled with a marble desk, and rich teal wall colour in the lobby provide a mature and polished look to welcome clients. While wall colours in the rest of the space have been kept light and neutral throughout. Splashes of brighter colours have been added in the furniture and wall art. Inspirational and motivational wall graphics and posters are added right through to create a dynamic and engaging workspace. Furniture shapes have been kept simple and fluid to maintain a modern and contemporary result. The bathroom is light with bright white wall tiles, with the floor tiles bringing an element of pattern and decoration. With this office design we have created a sophisticated and refined workspace which will engage with its inhabitants and provide a dynamic place to work.
